Are you ready to make the easiest bracelet you've ever made?
I was kind of hesitant to post this because it's so ridiculously easy! This project takes maybe 10 minutes total, and all you need is a shirt cuff from an old button down shirt, a small piece of scrap fabric, and some basic sewing supplies.
Supplies:
- Button down shirt cuff
- Scrap Fabric
- Seam ripper
- Disappearing ink marker
- Rotary cutter and mat or scissors and ruler
- Sewing machine and thread
- Iron
Step 1: Remove shirt cuff.
Using your seam ripper, carefully remove your shirt cuff. You will have an open end where you just ripped your seams. Using coordinating thread, sew where the original stitches were to close the opening.
Step 2: Make a tube.
Using your coordinating scrap fabric, trace and cut out a rectangle of fabric 2 inches wide and 3 inches long. Fold your rectangle in half long ways with the right sides together, and sew down your long side. Turn your tube right side out. You should now have a 3 inch long by 1 inch wide tube.
Using a hot iron, press your seam to the middle (see 3rd picture above). Now, put the edges of your tube together with your seam on the outside, and sew a straight line close to the edge.
Clip any extra fabric, and turn your tube right side out.
Step 3: Make your bow.
Next, fold your shirt cuff like an accordion and slip through your tube to the middle.
Button your cuff and wear proudly!
See? I told you it was ridiculously easy.
And I bet no one would guess your cuff bracelet was from an actual shirt cuff :)
I'm psyched to have Gwen of Gwenny Penny guest posting for Button Down Rehab tomorrow with a project that's perfect for summer.
